Go Godparents, Go Go Go

Tara was SO excited this morning because it's the first time in 7 months that she's held something while walking! (Kinda tricky to carry stuff when you're on crutches.) We were on our way out to meet the Patons, and she had Lou Lou on, and a packet of sweets in her hand - and she was just going "wow, this is SO nice, this feels so FUN. Don't you just love being able to hold something while you're walking?" Tiny things we take for granted!

Tarakie and Cas have been so interested in anything to do with prosthetics. Tara showed us the biggest prosthetic in the world (on an elephant) in Cassie's Guinness Book of Records; and Cas made me search on the internet for the oldest prosthetic (which it turns out is either a wooden & leather toe on an Egyptian mummy from 1000 BC or a bronze leg on an old Roman 700 years later).

Tara's got this riddle she likes asking at the moment: if you had a choice - to have a lip op like Cassie did, lots of little sores & bruises like Jadie (typical kid) has, or your leg chopped off like Tara - which one would you choose? She reckons she'd choose the leg chop "because the worst thing is the phantom tickles, and at least they're only bad at night". But then her next question is "which would you choose - to have phantom tickles, itchiness or pain?"...and her answer is itchiness, because the tickles are driving her insane - so hard to sleep. (BTW - Jadie's still experiencing similar sensations in her leg - spoke to the doctor about it and he says it should stop when Tara's stop.)

The twins had a FAB day yesterday with three birthday parties - and Tara kept Lou Lou on for most of the time. So it looks like we will be doing the 2,5 km kiddie marathon next Sunday (6th July)...which is really apt when Tara's gorgeous godparents - Lizzie Loo and George - are each doing their own fun run fund raising for Tara in London on the same day! So at least Tara will get to feel a little of what they're going thro'!

George's project 'help a friend' where he's raising awareness and funds for Tara and beautiful Jasper kicks off with a charity walk and picnic in Richmond Park on Sunday; and Lizzie's raising funds by taking on the ASICS London 10km run!!!!! WOW! Thank you Gorgeous Godparents (and Fairy Godparents)!

Those extra funds are gonna help so much for Tara's extra legs. She so needs the running one and the water one - today she had to take off Lou Lou to go on the beach (pic here), but that meant she then had to hop and crawl. So thanks lovely family and friends (and please send us photos Ruby and Lola!) - Tara beamed SO hugely when we told her what you are all doing next weekend.

As Cammie said to some other people, "if I wish anything for your children as they grow (besides health), I wish them the kind of friends and all the love we have!" We are very blessed and very lucky...and quite aptly Tara was reading Dr Seuss' Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? in bed tonight & we were singing Lucky Lucky Lucky on Singstar today (the girls won).

Belated pics below of Tara having fun with her physio last week, Jadie & Tara with certificates and Cas with her French trophy (and well done Domi in Cyprus!). Plus a video of the girls in the hospital corridors last week - never boring!

Oh Tara & Cassie, what terrible drivers you are...you almost knocked over that beautiful girl on her crutches beside you!

But I have to hand it to you. You are the only people I know who have made hospital look fun.

Love hearing your news as always.

Oh, what a good sense of humour your godmother has, Tara!!! Does she also make you girls laugh as much as me?

I love all your pictures, and seeing all 3 of you having fun with weelchairs and cruches is just wonderful. All the kids also love being in Jaspar's walker. I think it just gives them a feeling of what's like to be Jaspar.

Tara, this weekend I'll be walking with one leg for you, and the other for Jaspar. Good luck to you also on your kiddie marathon. Jade & Tara, have fun also, won't you?

Big hugs and kisses,
Filipa FG

Hullo FAMILY PANAYIS!!

Cassie, you won't remember, but you did magic in London at a walk we did for Save The Children when you were 6 months old!! You made a friend of ours feel very included and loved, when she knew no one on the walk!!

Now there are three loving, kind and delicious Panayis girls to make the world a better place.

Tara, I just love seeing you standing on two legs and grinning!! You're tall, do you feel taller? You are telling us all sorts of things that make us think differently, I love your perspectives!

Jadie, YOUR HAIR IS SO LONG, I am jealous. Wish you were all walking with us on Sunday, but we will think of you and I will eat your slice of London chocolate cake at the picnic!!

George, well done on sorting this out, you are wonderful and I can't wait to see you all.

I am in Shropshire on holiday and haven't done one walk to get prepared for Sunday, lazy old Cammi has been eating Barabrith cake and yummy chocolates too!!

Love you and miss you all, it is raining here today, but I am still loving my hols.
